Sadie McCue

Brookside-bred Sadie McCue recently returned to Kansas City after a two-and-a-half year stint of living in Denver, Colorado. Maximizing KC's social scene, from concert-going to exploring the latest spots to pop up to charming excursions beyond its limits, she is rediscovering the city that built her — and loving every minute of it. Stoked about the well-deserved credit and growth that have put Kansas City on the map as of late, Sadie is eager to tell the stories of local folks and landmarks that are contributing to this thriving Midwestern town.

To get to know Sadie a little better, we asked her a few questions.

What's your favorite coffee shop (and drink)?

The Roasterie -- cold brew or an Americano with steamed soy, depending on the time of year.

If you could live in any Kansas City neighborhood, which one would you choose?

The Crossroads for its livelihood, or Volker for its character. I seldom ventured north of Westport during the first eighteen years I grew up here, so I have been completely enthralled by both of them.

Where's your favorite weekend getaway?

Denver, Chicago, or Austin. All are about equidistance from KC and home to several of my closest friends and fondest memories. I have accumulated a ridiculous amount of Southwest points between these three cities, and I have no plans of stopping any time soon.

You have a Sunday to yourself. How do you spend it?

I'd start the day with yoga followed by "blunch" at The Westside Local. From there, I'd go to the park or the Nelson (depending on what weather the Midwest is dishing out that day). I'd wrap it up by cooking dinner, putting on fresh bed sheets, and cozying up on my couch with a book or turning on a documentary.

If you could take one Kansas City restaurant/bakery/cafe to a deserted island, which one would you choose?

Unbakery and Juicery. No contest.
